A New Mounting System with Extended Lengths for Endmill Cutters

ISCAR has developed a new modular system for mounting its HELIBALL, ball nose endmills, solid endmills and other small milling cutters. This new clamping idea, designated "FLEXFIT", includes interchangeable adaptors, extensions and shanks to provide tools with long, rigid overhangs. The FLEXFIT system combines cylindrical clamping with high accuracy and face contact between the various segments. The result is strong clamping and balancing of the axial forces. The new system functions with ISCAR HELIBALL inserts.
CR inserts, for semi-finishing, are recommended for medium machining conditions and cover the diameter range of 8 to 25 mm (.31 to 1.00"). The CRF inserts, for finishing applications and light machining, are available in a diameter range of 12 to 25 mm (.50 to 1.00"). This new modular system enables HELIBALL inserts to work with greater overhangs for increased efficiency and economy in industries where three-dimensional shapes are generally machined, such as for molds and dies and turbine blades.
